The Friends Of Black Hill together with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council are officially re-opening the Black Hill Reserve following the devastating bush fire of January 7th 2015
Mother Nature's power and glory in the regeneration of our bushland reserve will be visible for all to see. Members of the Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung Aboriginal communities are to be invited to hold a traditional smoke ceremony, prior to the official opening by local dignitaries. The Friends Of Black Hill will be providing a BBQ, and offering to accompany visitors on guided walks of our 105 hectare reserve.
What to bring
Black Hill Reserve is a visitor friendly reserve, with well sign posted walking tracks and few if any hazards. There are climbs with many steps on the 2.7 km Ridge Track over the summit of Black Hill, but the Circuit Track is a gentle 4 km stroll with gentle inclines. The reserve does not have toilets or rubbish bins so be prepared. Dress appropriately for short bush walks in September, and carry a drink of water to be safe. Dogs are welcome if they are on leads.
